Nathalie Du Pasquier

Nathalie Du Pasquier was born in 1957 in Bordeaux, France. She now lives in Milan, Italy.

Nathalie Du Pasquier was a founder of the Memphis Group, an Italian design and architecture group within which she worked until 1986, producing “decorated surfaces”: textiles, carpets, plastic laminates, and some furniture and objects.

In 1987, she devoted herself to painting, initiating what has become a long-lasting exploration of the potentialities as well as the borders of this medium. In an energetic dialogue with genres and movements of the past (Quattrocento, still life, Metaphysical painting, and geometric abstraction, among others), Nathalie Du Pasquier has created a distinctive universe made of recurring themes and insistent motifs, where forms constantly navigate between the representational and the non-representational, between the second, the third and the fourth (temporal) dimension. Her paintings often exist as objects or installations, blurring the distinctions between the work and its mode of display.

Her work is represented by Pace Gallery (New York, London, Seoul, etc.), Galerie Greta Meert (Brussels), Apalazzio Gallery (Brescia), Yvon Lambert (Paris), and Anton Kern Gallery (New York).
